Choosing Joy

Habakkuk 3:17-18 "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls-yet I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation."

Habakkuk saw no fruit

He noticed no results

But he chose to believe

And not walk by impulse

He could have chosen fear

Been enslaved by emotions

He could have followed his way

Or a whimsical notion

He could have let doubt win

And trusted the devil's voice

But in spite of no results

He had chosen to rejoice

Some people judge by numbers

Or they decide by success

They think God is not pleased

If you have a lot less

You can see a lack of fruit

And see the numbers decline

But can you walk in joy

With no fruit on the vine?

Trials have an end date

You may not know their length

But you have to know one thing

Joy in the Lord is your strength
