The Bear of the North

(A poem about Russia about to invade the Ukraine)

In the woods false tranquility In the quiet there's instability

She lurks behind the willow trees She prowls silently yet no one sees

Spotting weakness with her eyes And in this hour she will rise

The birds up high sing a chorus Concealing the danger of the forest

The bears arrival is very near Her imminent rising up many fear

Our leaders and media point their finger Yet in the darkness the bear does linger

Yet still the bear stalks alone Through the years she has grown

She continues to stalk her prey While our country sees decay

It seems we are asleep in our demise In our distractions she will surprise

As our leaders find another to blame The bear advances not playing games

In the woods, concealed in the fog There lies the bear, the land of Gog
