With all the hype
And the emotional highs
Can we see clearly
With our discerning eyes
The church is still asleep
With all the shouting
With all the praise
With all the jumping
With each hand raised
The church is still asleep
Awake O sleeper
Rise from the dead
With only milk bottles
We have been fed
The church is still asleep
We've traded worship
For entertainment
We've chosen puppets
Over men that are sent
The church is still asleep
With all the worship music
There's something I've seen
No one distinguishes
The clean from the unclean
The church is still asleep
With the light sermons
That tell a nice story
We've embraced a concert
But we have lost His glory
The church is still asleep
Words replace obedience
Routine replaces power
Form replaces revival
Desert replaces showers
The church is still asleep
What we have today
It is a night club feel
We've chosen fake worship
Over the genuine and real
The church is still asleep
Apathy everywhere
As many ride the fence
In all our activity
We are void of His presence
The church is still asleep
Worship is about Him
It is not about us
But now that message
Leaders seem to adjust
The church is still asleep
We must start breaking
The ground that is fallow
Yet we splash happily
Content in the shallow
The church is still asleep
As this continues on
Again each Sunday morning
Can we feel the grief of God
Can we hear His warning
The church is still asleep
