The "Invisible" Elephant in the Room

My friend has this elephant 

It stands big and tall

But he believes it is hidden

Invisible to all

Though people gaze at it

Right where it sits 

My friend makes it invisible 

Like a magician's tricks

It likes to thump around 

His small living room

But no one can see it

That he can assume

It knocks over lamps

It takes up the whole couch

But my friend still believes

It is not seen in his house

The elephant snorts loud

Tracks mud on the carpet 

Yet it remains unnoticeable 

He should bring it to Target

His friends give him a look

Like he is a crazy drunk

But he doesn't believe they see

The elephant's large trunk

It tramples his home

It levels everything flat

It invites in conflict

It destroys his habitat

Sure it causes damage 

That others don't seem to like

But he doesn't think they see

The elephant in his life
