The Mayflower Compact Revisted

May we know in May today

About the Mayflower long ago

May we show and again display

How America began to grow

You can be certain I give respect

To those sacrificing Puritans

They were determined they did not neglect

Overcoming each hurdle and burden

It may seem odd where they arrived

When they anchored at Cape Cod

And on that sod they survived

Putting their faith and hope in God

To read what's written let's not subtract

They wanted freedom in their religion

Their mission revealed in the Compact

Declared boldly their position

To those members we owe a debt

Their covenant with God was an ember

May we remember and never forget How they arrived that late November
