God came to shepherds
To nobodies in a field
Angelic visitation
His glory was revealed
God came to shepherds
In their own secluded walk
In darkness they were awake
At night they were keeping watch

To the humble and unknown
The Lord saw them keeping watch
When they thought they were alone
God came to shepherds
He had not forgotten them
They sought after His presence
And found Him in Bethlehem
God came to shepherds
They saw Him in a manger
And when we seek after Him
He will not be a stranger
God came to shepherds
In His mercy we can trust
He will reveal Himself
To the hungry and to us
