The Sound of Silence

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

(must be sung) Posted this last year, but it's worth repeating during this time we are living in

Hello Facebook my old friend I've come to post with you again Conservative posts you are sweeping Removed our posts when we were sleeping And the poem that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand posts, maybe more People posting but not speaking Facebook hearing but not listening People writing posts that Facebook never shares And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence

Zuckerberg said I you do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Because soon my words will not reach you But my words like silent raindrops fall Echoed in the Facebook walls of silence

And the people bowed and prayed While every post Facebook weighed And the sign flashed out its warning What Mark Zuckerberg was forming Soon the words of the prophets will have to be written on the subway walls Or in bathroom stalls And whispered in the sounds of silence
